Sarah Horseman has extensive work experience in the field of audit, risk, and assurance. Sarah currently holds the role of Deputy Director, Audit and Assurance at Greater Manchester Combined Authority, where they established the internal audit provision and developed the risk management framework. Sarah also serves as the Head of Audit, Risk and Assurance at Transport for Greater Manchester, leading a team responsible for providing internal audit services and risk assurance. Prior to their current positions, Sarah worked at PwC for over two decades, where they held various senior managerial roles in public sector risk assurance, global risk assurance learning and education, and systems and process assurance. Sarah specialized in business processes and controls across industries such as retail banking and general insurance. Sarah is qualified in IT auditing and internal auditing.

Sarah Horseman attended Oriel Bank High School from 1979 to 1991. After completing high school, they enrolled in Stockport College from 1991 to 1993, where they focused on Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Studies. Following their time at Stockport College, Sarah furthered their education at the University of Leeds from 1993 to 1996, earning a Bachelor of Science (BSc Hons) degree in Accounting and Computer Studies.

In addition to their formal education, Sarah obtained certifications in their field. Sarah became a Certified Internal Auditor from The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) in October 2001. Prior to that, they obtained the qualification of QiCA (Qualification in Computer Audit) from IIA - UK & Ireland in July 1998.
