James Piper

James Piper is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in cyber security and telecommunications, currently serving as the Acting Director of Cyber Strategy, Architecture & OT/CT at Transport for NSW since August 2013. In this role, James leads the integration of cyber security within complex Operational Technology environments and has developed key threat-based security controls and technical guidance. Previous roles at Transport for NSW included Director Cyber Security – OT Integration and various engineering positions where James successfully coordinated responses to critical infrastructure security initiatives and established technical standards for cyber security. Prior to Transport for NSW, James worked at RailCorp, where notable achievements included managing independent validation programs and implementing automation systems for testing networks. James holds a Master’s degree in Engineering Asset Management from the University of Wollongong and a Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Sydney.
