Kevin Smith

International Representative, Air Division at Transport Workers Union Office of Political and legislative Affairs

Kevin currently serves as an International Representative for all TWU’s Service Locals helping to administer over 50 collective bargaining agreements across the United States and the Virgin Islands. Along with his International duties, he is also the current President of Local 525 out of Merritt Island, Florida representing NASA, CCAFS and multiple other service type contracts on the East Coast. Kevin first became President of the Local in 2007. Since then he has been elected to office four consecutive terms. Prior to being elected President of the Local, he held the position of Vice President from 2001 to 2007. Kevin began his career on the Space Coast back in August of 1987 when he was hired by Pan Am World Services to provide Railroad support at Cape Canaveral Air Station on the Titan Launch program. Kevin spent the better part of the next 20 years working in multiple crafts on Cape Canaveral Air Station Launch Facilities with contractors such as Johnson Controls, Sverdrup Technologies and Space Coast Launch Services. During his career he has served in multiple positions with respects to Labor such as Co-Chair of NASA’s Kennedy Labor Management Relations Council (KLMRC), Council Member of Florida’s Labor Management Conference (FLMC) and served on the Brevard Workforce Development Board. Kevin oversees contracts governed under the National Labor Relations Act, Railway Labor Act and the Public Employees Relations Commission.
