Ermias Weldemicael

Ermias Weldemicael is an experienced economist with a strong background in economic research, regulatory analysis, and teaching. Currently serving as the Director of Economic Research and Regulatory Analysis at the U.S. Department of Transportation since December 2019, Ermias has also held the position of Senior Economist at OST, where responsibilities included regulatory economic analysis and policy support. Prior experience includes roles as a Senior Economist at the Colorado Department of Transportation and as an Adjunct Professor at multiple universities, where Ermias taught and developed economics courses. With a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Melbourne, along with a MA from Stellenbosch University and a BA from the University of Asmara, Ermias has worked as a freelance consultant for various international organizations and has extensive experience within government institutions, including the Ministry of Finance.
