Stephen Butler

Stephen Butler is an experienced professional in the field of power systems, currently serving as the Service Performance Manager for HVDC and Power Electronics at Transpower New Zealand since July 2022. With a strong background in commissioning and project management, Stephen has held various roles at PSC - Power Systems Consultants from 2009 to 2022, including Power Systems Manager, Commissioning Manager, and Team Lead. Notable projects include managing commissioning for significant HVDC projects such as the Dolwin 2 HVDC grid connection and the Spittal 132/275kV GIS Substation. Stephen also has experience as an Electrical Engineer, providing support for Transpower on the Pole 3 HVDC Inter Island Link Upgrade and contributing to several HVDC projects with ABB. Stephen holds a Bachelor of Engineering with Honors in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Canterbury.
