Amy Garay-Azucena has a wealth of experience in the media and communications industry. Amy began their career in 2016 as a Library Aide II at Salem Public Library. In the same year, they also served as the Media and Communications Director for the University of Oregon MEChA, where they established an official MEChA identity on Facebook and Instagram, increased social media engagement, and photographed and filmed MEChA events. In 2017, they served as Editor In Chief for both The Siren Magazine and La Jotera Magazine, where they led a team of three to produce, design, and publish 1,500 copies of the University of Oregon Women's Center magazine, and designed, produced, and published 200 copies of the annual LGBTQ+ Latinx magazine, La Jotera. In 2018, they worked as a Program Support Assistant for Internship and Fellowship Programs at the Library of Congress, where they coordinated 14 professional development sessions for 13 interns over the course of 15 weeks and authored two NIOSphere weekly updates for a department audience of 500+. In 2019, they worked as a Digital Marketing Associate - SEO Specialist at Syndicate Media Group, where they created and managed email marketing campaigns, maintained and boosted site SEO and Google rankings, and coordinated with the writing, editorial, and design team to create long-form articles and content for publication. In 2020, they worked as an Associate II at EnviroIssues. Currently, they are a Content Editor at Travel Oregon.

Amy Garay-Azucena obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of Oregon between 2014 and 2018.
