Kate Garza

Kate Garza serves as the Chief of Staff for Travis County since November 2020, bringing extensive experience in advocacy and legal counsel from their previous roles including Director of Advocacy & External Affairs at Seton Healthcare Family and Senior Counsel for Council Member Delia Garza in Austin. Prior to these positions, Kate worked in various capacities within the U.S. Department of Labor, U.S. House of Representatives, and U.S. Department of Education, focusing on legal and policy advisory roles. Kate also contributed as a law clerk at Alliance for Justice and started a teaching career in Chicago Public Schools. Educational credentials include a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Aurora University and a Juris Doctor from Indiana University Maurer School of Law, along with contributions to the Encyclopedia of Education Law published by SAGE Publications.
