Treasure Boxes Inc

Since 2015, Treasure Boxes has been providing vital support to health and support organisations, with the main objective of increasing the safety and wellbeing of at-risk children in South Australia and decreasing the risk of serious injury of death to our most vulnerable community members. Its conception was born from Founder Rikki Cooke's experience of working in the sector for over 8 years as an emergency carer and detecting a gap in the system to provide children with the basic essentials they require when they are initially removed from their homes and placed in emergency care facilities. This concept also lent itself to other families experience severe disadvantage, including those fleeing domestic violence with very little personal belongings, families experiencing homelessness, and others enduring financial hardship which saw their children without the essentials they need to thrive and survive. Now in its 7th year of operation, Treasure Boxes supports over 2,500 vulnerable children annually and provides over 15,000 items to families across the state to assist caregivers in caring for children aged newborn to 17 years old. The organisation assists over 160 government and non-government organisations - striving to meet its mission of reducing the number of children living in severe disadvantage in South Australia, with the aim to reach as many families as possible to ensure better care can be provided and to protect our most vulnerable community members.
