Christian Klammt has extensive work experience in the field of biophysics, protein biochemistry, and drug discovery. Christian has held various leadership roles at Relay Therapeutics, a biotech company focused on accelerating drug discovery. At Relay Therapeutics, they contributed to the creation of high-performing teams and played a key role in building the experimental part of the company's unique platform. Christian held positions with increasing responsibilities, including Senior Director of Science & Technology Strategy and Director of Biomolecular Discovery. During their time there, the company grew significantly and went public in 2021. Christian also worked as a Senior Scientist at Relay Therapeutics, where they managed a team, led projects, and collaborated with academic labs and CROs.
Before their time at Relay Therapeutics, Christian worked as a Consultant at Third Rock Ventures, providing their expertise in biochemistry and biophysics to establish hit finding and platform strategies. Christian also pioneered new technologies in the field. Prior to that, they were a Scientist at AnaptysBio, where they led a program for developing antibodies against a novel immune checkpoint.
Christian's earlier work experience includes roles at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, where they served as a Staff Scientist, focusing on the elucidation of molecular mechanisms in infectious diseases and studying T cell activation. Christian also worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Salk Institute, where they contributed to the study of membrane proteins for structure-guided drug discovery. Additionally, Christian was a Fellow Scientist at the Joint Center for Biosciences, where they conducted research on therapeutic means for treating human diseases involving membrane proteins and TGF-beta messenger proteins.
Christian Klammt completed their education in the field of Biochemistry at Goethe University Frankfurt. From 1997 to 2002, they pursued a Diplom degree in Biochemistry. Later, they continued their studies at the same university and earned a PhD in Biochemistry, specializing in Biophysics, from 2002 to 2006.
