Jamel Meslamani

Principal Scientist, Computational Design at Treeline Biosciences

Jamel Meslamani has a strong background in computational design and molecular research. Jamel is currently working as a Principal Scientist in Computational Design at Treeline Biosciences since July 2022. Prior to this, they worked at UCB as a Principal Scientist in Computer-Aided Drug Design from April 2021 to July 2022. In this role, they guided efforts to design and apply machine learning technologies to early drug discovery projects.

Before joining UCB, Jamel worked at GSK as a Scientific Investigator in Computational Molecular Design from May 2017 to April 2021. Jamel contributed to multidisciplinary drug discovery teams and implemented innovative cheminformatics and AI/machine learning solutions to guide screening and optimization projects.

Earlier in their career, Jamel worked as a Senior Scientist and Postdoctoral Researcher at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. In these roles, they focused on structure-based drug design and optimization among epigenetic proteins.

Jamel's academic background includes a Ph.D. from the Université de Strasbourg, where they developed and evaluated ligand profiling methods for poly-pharmacology prediction. Jamel also worked as a Research Assistant, maintaining and updating molecular databases during their time at the university. Additionally, Jamel gained internship experience at CEA, where they worked on evaluating ligand accessibility in cytochromes CYP3A4.

Jamel Meslamani completed their education in a chronological order as follows:

- From 2007 to 2008, they attended the University of Strasbourg and obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Cheminformatics.

- Following that, from 2009 to 2012, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Cheminformatics at the University of Strasbourg.

- In 2016, they obtained a certification for completing the Summer School for Computational Genomics from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

- In 2015, they obtained a certification for completing "The Data Scientist's Toolbox" course from Coursera Course Certificates.
