Mary-Katherine McKenzie has over a decade of work experience in various roles. From 2006 to 2011, they held the role of Administrative Assistant at McKenzie-Baker Interiors, and Outreach Intern at Chatham County Habitat for Humanity. Mary-Katherine was also a Hostess at Carolina Brewery from 2011 to 2013. During that time, they also worked as a Design and Education Intern at the UNC Sustainability Office, and as a Graphics & Web Coordinator at SWANA. From 2013 to 2016, they were a Software Engineer at WeddingWire. In 2018, they began working at Stitch Fix, where they held the roles of Lead Software Engineer I, Software Engineer III, and Software Engineer II. Currently, they are a Software Engineer at Treet.

Mary-Katherine McKenzie obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Environmental Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill between 2009 and 2013. Mary-Katherine also attended King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi in 2012, studying Energy and Environment. In 2015, they obtained a certification in Regular Expressions from Code School, and is currently working on certifications in Rails 4 Patterns and Ruby Bits.
