Tim Van de Walle

Tim Van de Walle is the Senior Lead Architect at Trek10. Tim has held this position since December 2020. Prior to that, they were the Head of Software Development and Operations at Findaway World from May 2011 to December 2020. In this role, they were responsible for developing and operating the AudioEngine Platform, designing, implementing, and executing the company's development processes, managing a team of 10+ developers across mobile, backend, and frontend projects, and managing Findaway's AWS budget.

Some of their notable accomplishments include successfully managing the software development organization through a 20x growth in revenue of AudioEngine over a period of 7 years while maintaining 24/7/365 support and operations. Tim also led the implementation of four major versions of the AudioEngine REST API and five major versions of Android and iOS AudioEngine SDKs to deliver new features targeting more than a dozen new billing models, international support, and new audio streaming formats. In between major releases, they managed numerous performance improvements and bug fix releases for the platform.

In addition, they managed Findaway's AWS budget and implementation from the initial move to AWS in 2014 until present. During that period, they were able to reduce the AWS spend as a percentage of their revenue by 50% through optimization of reserve purchases, negotiation of bulk pricing for data transfer, and changes in architecture to reduce costs.

Finally, they designed and implemented new development processes to maintain the flexibility and responsiveness to customer support while providing developers with dedicated time for new feature development. Tim segmented the team into rotating roles of support and new feature development and cross-trained team to break down knowledge silos.

Tim Van de Walle's educational career includes earning an MBA in finance from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University, a master's of science in electrical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, and a BS & BA in computer engineering & philosophy from the University of Notre Dame. Tim also holds a certification from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional.

Tim Van de Walle reports to Andy Warzon, Co-Founder & CTO. They work with Carlos Lemus - Principal Engineer, IoT, Jarred Kozlick - Lead Architect, and Charlie Guse - Senior Architect.
