Sergey Plis has a strong background in research and academia. Sergey is currently an Associate Professor at Georgia State University, where they focus on developing theories, models, and algorithms for understanding observational data. Sergey is also the Director of Machine Learning at the TReNDS Center. Prior to these roles, they were the co-founder, President & Research Chief at Reason8.ai, where they led research and development efforts. Sergey also worked as the R&D Director at Reason8.ai and held a position as a Principal Member of Technical Staff at athenahealth, where they led a successful AI project. Sergey has also held various roles at The Mind Research Network, including Assistant Professor of Translational Neuroscience, Director of Machine Learning, and Research Scientist. Sergey started their career as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of New Mexico and as a Graduate Research Assistant at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Sergey's work experience demonstrates their expertise in machine learning, research, and leadership.

Sergey Plis earned a PhD in Computer Science from The University of New Mexico from 2005 to 2007. Prior to that, they obtained their MS in Computer Science from the same institution from 2001 to 2005. Between 1996 and 2001, Sergey pursued an MS in CAD/CAM Engineering, although the specific institution is unknown.

TReNDS is focused on developing, applying, and sharing advanced analytic approaches and neuroinformatics tools that leverage brain imaging and omics data with a goal of translating these approaches into biomarkers that help address relevant areas of brain health and disease.
