Courtney E. Scott

Courtney Scott is a partner in Tressler’s New York office and Chair of the firm’s national Professional Liability Practice Group. She focuses her practice on directors and officers liability and professional indemnity claims. Courtney is recognized for her work analyzing claims and coverage for leading insurers and professionals. She has handled and provided analysis of claims related to subprime lending for major financial institutions, and she has regularly dealt with matters involving acts of directors and officers, alleged malpractice or neglect of architects and engineers, the professional conduct of lawyers and law firms and various contingency coverages. Courtney also regularly represents insurers in coverage litigation in state and federal courts.

Courtney’s experience prior to joining the firm includes several years as a claims manager at a leading Lloyd’s of London Syndicate, where she handled all directors and officers claims for the syndicate and was highly involved in professional indemnity claims for a range of classes of business. Prior to her time in London, Courtney spent a decade as a commercial litigator in New York, where her practice included defense of claims asserted against corporate entities, their officers and directors, including the defense of securities and other class actions, as well as derivative actions.
