Karsten Schrobback

Karsten Schrobback has extensive work experience in the research field, with a focus on biomedical sciences. Karsten is currently working as a research associate and team leader at the Translational Research Institute Australia, where they investigate the DNA repair processes of skeletal stem cells and their relationship to musculoskeletal diseases. Karsten also explores the connection between mechanotransduction and DNA damage repair. Additionally, they serve as a lecturer at QUT, coordinating and teaching various courses related to biochemistry and biomedical sciences. Prior to these roles, Karsten was a post-doctoral research fellow at the Institute of Health and Biomedical Innovation, where they investigated cartilage loading and mechanotransduction pathways. Karsten has also worked as a post-doctoral research fellow at Christchurch Hospital in New Zealand. Before transitioning to the research field, Karsten worked at Deutsche Bank, where they held various roles in environmental technology, credit analysis, and relationship management for medium-sized companies. Karsten began their career with an apprenticeship as a Bankkaufmann at Deutsche Bank.

Karsten Schrobback began their education in 1988 at Karl Liebknecht Oberschule in Frankfurt (Oder), where they obtained their High School Diploma (Abitur) in 1990. Following this, they attended Frankfurt School of Finance & Management from 1995 to 1997, earning a degree in Banking and Finance, specifically a Bankfachwirt. In 2001, Schrobback enrolled at Fachhochschule Darmstadt and pursued a degree in Biotechnologie, which they completed in 2006. Finally, they joined QUT (Queensland University of Technology) in 2006 and attained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Cartilage Matrix Biology and Regenerative Medicine in 2010.
