Prior to that, they worked at Scovan Engineering from 2013-2015 as a Project Engineer and Project Management. Ben played a notable role in the development of the Crew Energy Inc. West Septimus processing facility.

Ben's experience also includes working at AMEC from 2009-2013, where they held various positions such as Project Manager, Project Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, and System Engineer. Ben was involved in In-Situ/SAGD facility development projects, FEED studies, project management, multidisciplinary coordination, mechanical engineering design, field construction support, and startup and commissioning activities. Ben also worked on compressor station projects and was involved in ABSA applications and stamping engineering.

Earlier in their career, Ben worked at Ready Engineering Corporation in 2009 as an Electrical Field Engineer and at Bantrel from 2004-2009 as a Control Systems Engineer and Commissioning Field Engineer.

Ben Lai, P.Eng., PMP, has a strong educational background in engineering and project management. Ben completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Calgary from 2000 to 2004. Following this, they pursued selective graduate courses in Chemical Engineering at the same university from 2010 to 2011.

In addition to their formal education, Ben has obtained various certifications to enhance their professional expertise. Ben obtained the PMP (Project Management Professional) certification from the Project Management Institute in November 2022. Ben also holds certifications such as TDG (Transportation of Dangerous Goods) Certification from the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety, obtained in May 2017, and H2S Alive Certification from Energy Safety Canada, obtained in February 2023.
