Mikio Akagi

Mikio Akagi is a Senior Research Analyst at Trilateral Research since February 2023, specializing in ethics and emerging technologies, particularly in the context of AI, with a focus on assessing their ethical, social, and human rights impacts. Prior to this role, Mikio held various academic positions at Texas Christian University from August 2016 to December 2022, including Associate Professor of the History and Philosophy of Science and College Diversity Advocate, contributing to diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Additionally, Mikio was a Visiting Assistant Professor at University College Dublin for a semester in 2017, and a Graduate Teaching Fellow at the University of Pittsburgh from 2010 to 2015, where original research on conceptual change in science was conducted. Mikio holds a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Pittsburgh, an MSc in Philosophy of Mind, Language, and Embodied Cognition from The University of Edinburgh, and a BA in Philosophy from Swarthmore College.
