Matt Wheeler, Ph.D. has diverse work experience starting from their engineering internship at Ford in 1989. Matt worked as a visiting assistant professor at Colorado School of Mines in 1994. Later in 1994, they became the director of control system design at Cooper Standard Automotive, where they developed active noise and vibration control products for automobiles and general aviation aircraft. In 1999, Matt joined Micro Motion, where they led a team of engineers and developed an innovative single straight tube Coriolis mass flow meter. In 2002, they joined Insitu as the principal engineer and was responsible for developing Insitu's ObjectTracker camera-payload control operator console. Matt then moved to become a business owner of Cyneta, where they worked for over 13 years, providing analysis, simulation, tuning, and flight test support for various unmanned aircraft systems. Finally, in 2021, they joined Trillium Engineering as a senior software engineer.

Matt Wheeler, PhD earned their B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Iowa State University in 1989. After completing their undergraduate studies, they pursued an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Control Systems at the same institution, which they received in 1990. Matt then went on to earn their Ph.D. in Control Systems from Purdue University, completing this degree in 1994.
