Marta V. Martínez

Artist In Residence at Trinity Rep

Marta V. Martínez is a distinguished artist and leader in the field of Latino arts and history in Rhode Island, currently serving as Artist In Residence at Trinity Repertory Company since January 2018, where efforts focus on establishing a bilingual Latino theater company. As the Executive Director and founder of Rhode Island Latino Arts since April 1988, Marta has also initiated the Latino History Project of Rhode Island. Additional roles include serving as a Senior Fellow with the Oral History Association and a part-time Director of Communications at Progreso Latino. Marta's academic contributions include a position as Adjunct Faculty at Providence College and various roles in communications and education across cultural institutions, alongside substantial publishing experience at the Rhode Island Historical Society. Educational qualifications encompass a Doctorate in Fine Arts from Providence College and a Master's in Journalism from The George Washington University, bolstered by certifications in Translation/Interpretation from Georgetown University.
