Sean Etheredge

Director, Golf & Head Men's Golf Coach at Trinity University

Sean Etheredge is in his fourth season as Trinity’s Assistant Golf Coach/Men’s Golf.

During his first campaign, in 2014, Coach Etheredge led the Tiger men to a #20 NCAA Division III ranking by the Golfstat report. In 2015, Golfstat ranked the Tigers as the #19 team in the nation, and 33rd in 2016.

The Tigers have been runners-up at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships in each of the three years of Coach Etheredge's coaching tenure. Seven players have qualified for the All-SCAC Team on his watch.

Golfer Diego Trevino was selected for the PING All-West Region Team in the 2015 season, and Travis Hindle was elected in 2016. Coach Etheredge has also guided the Tigers to tournament championships of the Al Jones Memorial Tournament in Tyler, Texas; and the Alamo City Classic in San Antonio.

A well-know teaching professional in the San Antonio golf community, Coach Etheredge has taught the game to participants at all levels. He also has emphasized golf-specific fitness training. Coach Etheredge holds a Class “A” PGA Professional certification. He is also a Titleist Performance Institute Certified Golf Instructor. In addition, Coach Etheredge became an “authorized instructor” for PGA Tour coaches Andy Plummer and Mike Bennett.

Prior to joining the Trinity staff, Coach Etheredge served as director of instruction for the Alamo City Golf Trail in San Antonio. He created player development and retention strategies throughout the San Antonio municipal golf system. Among the programs were Get Golf Ready, Junior Golf Academy, and the Alamo City Golf Trail League series.

He was lead instructor for the Joe Caruso Golf Academy, from 2012-2013. In addition to golf lessons and training, Coach Etheredge worked on fitness programs by performing physical movement screening and other techniques.

Coach Etheredge was the head professional at The Quarry Golf Club in San Antonio from 2009-2012. During his tenure, Coach Etheredge received two Southern Texas PGA (STPGA) Awards for Merchandiser of the Year, as well as two nominations for STPGA Chapter Teacher of the Year. Coach Etheredge was the assistant professional at The Quarry from 2005-2009.

He was the strength and conditioning coach at San Antonio’s Olympic Gym (2001-2005), where clients were trained in a competitive and high-intensity atmosphere.

Coach Etheredge is experienced in all areas of golf technology, including Flight Scope and Trackman Doppler Radar systems.He regularly competes in STPGA Championships, as well as other regional tournaments and Open Qualifiers.

Coach Etheredge earned a Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2005. He graduated from Alamo Heights High School in 1999.
