Sushil Khanchi began their work experience in 2017 as an Open Source Contributor for the coala Association e.V. Sushil later became a Google Code-In Mentor for the organization. In 2018, they joined the Mercurial Open Source Project as a Google Summer of Code Student, where they implemented various functionalities in the Mercurial write commands and Rebase command.
In 2019, Sushil worked as a Software Engineer at HackerRank, where they built an Employer Branding interface and an Interview Preparation feature to enhance the recruitment process. Sushil also worked on Growth & Tracking, promoting interview prep pages, adding trackers, and improving page ranking through SEO.
Sushil continued their involvement with the Mercurial Open Source Project in 2019 as a mentor for the Google Summer of Code program.
From 2017 to 2020, they served as the Student Coordinator at The CodeClub SMVDU, where they assisted new programmers, taught Algorithms and Data Structures, and organized bootcamps and workshops.
In 2021, Sushil worked as a Software Engineer at Pravegak Technologies, leading a team of Python developers and contributing to projects based on Django, including a logistics software project and a hotel booking platform.
Since 2018, they have been a Software Engineer at Octobus, primarily focusing on developing the Heptapod (fork of GitLab with Mercurial support). Sushil has also worked on developing HGitaly, a gRPC service for handling hg calls, and enhancing Mercurial's Evolve extension.
Most recently, in 2022, Sushil joined TripGuru as a Software Engineer.
Sushil Khanchi obtained a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University between the years 2016 and 2020.
