Derick Ballard's work experience begins in 2007 as a Graphic Artist for The News-Review, where they created ads for a daily newspaper and collaborated with sales staff and customers for successful ad creation. From 2008 to 2009, they worked as an Environment/Production Artist at Turn 10 Studios, modeling and texturing assets for race tracks. In 2010, they joined Microsoft as a Test Associate and was later promoted to Assistant QA Lead, evaluating thousands of clips. At Turn 10 Studios in the same year, they returned as an Environment/Production Artist, taking on the role of Track Lead and upgrading visuals while porting an older track. Derick then worked at Gameloft from 2011 to 2016, handling all aspects of environment assets from concept to export. From 2016 to 2018, they joined Tactic Studios as a Senior Environment Artist, focusing on modeling, texturing, and lighting, and offering feedback to enhance visuals and workflows. At Hardsuit Labs from 2018 to 2021, Derick served as a Senior Environment Artist, creating engaging environments, owning game areas, and providing mentorship and feedback to colleagues. Currently, since 2021, they work at Tripwire Interactive LLC as a Senior Environment Artist.

Derick Ballard attended Etowah High School from 1999 to 2003, where they studied in the field of High School education. Following their high school education, they enrolled at Kennesaw State University from 2003 to 2005.
