Ivo Nieuwenhuis

Critic at Trouw

Ivo Nieuwenhuis serves as the Chair of the BA programme in Dutch Language and Culture and is an Assistant Professor at Radboud University since August 2017, focusing on teaching and designing course modules in Dutch literature and culture. In addition, Ivo Nieuwenhuis has been a critic for Trouw since December 2018, writing reviews of comedy performances, and also critiques Dutch "cabaret" and "kleinkunst" performances for Theatermaker/Theaterkrant.nl since September 2017. Prior experience includes a lecturer role at Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, and previous positions at the University of Amsterdam and Utrecht University, where responsibilities included teaching undergraduate and graduate courses on Dutch literature and supervising academic activities. Ivo Nieuwenhuis earned a PhD in Arts from the University of Amsterdam and holds an MA in Dutch Language and Literature from Universiteit Utrecht, alongside a BA in Dutch Language and Culture.

Trouw

Trouw is one of the three national quality newspapers in the Netherlands, and part of the Belgium publisher De Persgroep. In 2012 it received the award European Newspaper of the Year fot its concept of a 'daily weekly'​ and its design. It produces every day a newssection and a section 'De Verdieping'​ with background, analyses, reports en opinions. On saturday there are two extra magazines called Letter&Geest with essays and bookreviews and a magazine named Tijd with human interest-story's. It's orginally founded in 1943 as a resistance newspaper. Nowadays the newspaper takes special interests in politics, sustainability, education, healthcare and the role of religion and (new) religious groups in our rapidly changing society.
