Niels Posthumus is an experienced journalist and author, currently serving as the Correspondent for the United Kingdom and Ireland at Trouw, based in Manchester, since November 2021. Concurrently, Niels holds the position of Night Editor at ANP, the main press agency in the Netherlands, and contributes a monthly column to Leeuwarder Courant about life in the UK. Past experience includes roles such as Correspondent for Africa at Het Financieele Dagblad and Southern Africa Correspondent for Trouw and BNR Nieuwsradio, with a notable focus on financial news and sports reporting. Niels has authored two significant books that explore the impacts of historical events on contemporary society and has gained recognition with a nomination for the Dutch Brusseprijs for best journalism book in 2018. Niels holds a Master of Science in Political Science from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and a Postacademic degree in Newspaper Journalism from Erasmus University Rotterdam.

Trouw

Trouw is one of the three national quality newspapers in the Netherlands, and part of the Belgium publisher De Persgroep. In 2012 it received the award European Newspaper of the Year fot its concept of a 'daily weekly'​ and its design. It produces every day a newssection and a section 'De Verdieping'​ with background, analyses, reports en opinions. On saturday there are two extra magazines called Letter&Geest with essays and bookreviews and a magazine named Tijd with human interest-story's. It's orginally founded in 1943 as a resistance newspaper. Nowadays the newspaper takes special interests in politics, sustainability, education, healthcare and the role of religion and (new) religious groups in our rapidly changing society.
