Laurent Mareschal

Laurent Mareschal has a diverse and extensive work experience in finance and leadership roles. Laurent currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at TruLeaf, where they are responsible for Finance, HR, Legal, and IT. In 2022, they successfully led a $150 million equity and debt financing. Prior to this, they worked as the Chair of Audit Committee at Lingo Media Corporation in 2020.

From 2019 to 2021, Laurent held the position of Chief Operating Officer and CFO at The Group Ventures. In this role, they had multi-disciplinary accountabilities covering finance, accounting, reporting, legal, governance, and played a thought leadership role relating to pipeline and portfolio management.

Before joining The Group Ventures, Laurent worked as an independent consultant at Silver Peak Advisors from 2019 to 2021. Laurent'sresponsibilities included providing financial, strategic, and operational advice and support to various businesses.

Laurent also had a successful career at Scotiabank, where they held several senior leadership positions. Laurent served as the Senior Vice-President & Head, Small Business Banking from 2016 to 2018, leading the digital business transformation and generating significant sales and net income growth. Laurent was also the CFO and Head of Strategy, Canadian Banking from 2012 to 2016, where they played a key role in a multi-billion-dollar acquisition and implemented various financial strategies to drive bottom-line growth. Laurent's earlier roles at Scotiabank included Senior Vice President, All Bank Financial Planning & Analysis, Managing Director and CFO at Scotia Capital, Vice President of Expense Management, and Director of M&A and Financial Engineering.

Laurent started their career at Scotiabank as a Senior Analyst and Analyst in Corporate Forecasting in 1993. Throughout their career, they have demonstrated expertise in financial management, strategic planning, M&A, and developing and optimizing processes and systems.

Laurent Mareschal has a diverse education history. In 1991-1992, they attended McMaster University and obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a focus on Finance. Later, in 2015, they participated in the Executive Leadership Program at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business. Furthermore, they pursued their undergraduate studies at McGill University, where they received a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Political Science.
