Atticus Simpson has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Atticus started their career as an Internal Communications Intern at Siecor Corp. in 1999. Atticus then worked as an Account Executive at Quixote Group from 1999 to 2003. Following that, they joined NC State University as a Graduate Teaching Assistant & Instructor from 2003 to 2005.

In 2005, Atticus joined Northeastern Technical College as the Public Relations, Marketing and Research Coordinator until 2008, when they became the Director of Institutional Advancement until 2012. In the same year, they joined Western Piedmont Community College as the Vice President and also served as the Executive Director of Western Piedmont Foundation, Inc. until 2018.

Currently, Atticus holds multiple roles at Truliant Federal Credit Union. Atticus started as the Director of Community & Government Affairs in 2018, then became the Executive Director of Truliant Foundation in 2021, and currently holds the position of Senior Director of Community and Government Affairs since 2022.

Atticus Simpson's education history includes various degrees and certificates from multiple institutions. Atticus began their academic journey in 1989 at Western Carolina University, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in English in 1995. In 1997, Atticus attended Appalachian State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Public Relations in 1999. Later, in 2003, Atticus pursued a Master of Science (MS) in Organizational Communication from North Carolina State University, completing the program in 2005. Atticus expanded their educational qualifications in 2008 by earning a Certificate in Leadership from the University of South Carolina, which concluded in 2010. Lastly, Atticus pursued their highest level of education, earning an Ed.D. degree from Northeastern University between 2016 and 2022. The field of study for the Ed.D. degree is not specified. Additionally, in 1995, Atticus also attended NOLS, studying Outdoor Education, although no formal degree was obtained from this program.
