Charlie Brown

Charlie Brown is an experienced leader in philanthropy and social innovation, currently serving as the Executive Director of the Trust for Civic Life since January 2024. In this role, Charlie Brown leads a collaborative effort to support local community initiatives that enhance democracy and civic engagement. Prior to this, Charlie Brown was a Partner at Context Partners, where a design firm was launched to integrate design thinking with social innovation practices. Charlie Brown also founded and served as CEO of Alta Futures, focusing on strategy and grant making in Democracy and Climate. Previous roles include Executive Director of Ashoka's Changemakers, where pioneering online community initiatives took place, and Lead Consultant for the National Parks Conservation Association, developing strategies for protected areas. Charlie Brown’s early career includes experience as Associate Director at Ashoka and roles at Exemplum and WUVT 90.7 Community Radio. Academic credentials include an MBA in International Business and Environmental Planning from the University of Denver and a B.S. in Marketing Management from Virginia Tech.
