Alex Brady

Vice President, Real Estate & Planning at Trust for Governors Island

Alex Brady has a diverse range of work experience. They started their career as a Development Associate at The Food Project, where they prepared proposals and reports for institutional funders. They then became Grants Manager, leading outreach to funders and overseeing an institutional funding strategy.

After that, Alex worked at the NYC Department of City Planning as an intern in the Waterfront and Open Space Division. They then joined the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as a Teaching Assistant and Research Assistant.

Alex then transitioned to the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) where they held various roles including Senior Project Manager, Assistant Vice President, Vice President, and Senior Vice President. In these positions, they managed the PortNYC portfolio of City-owned assets, negotiated and administered leases, set strategic direction, and oversaw the leasing and redevelopment of the South Brooklyn Marine Terminal.

Currently, Alex is working at the Trust for Governors Island as the Vice President of Real Estate & Planning. They lead the redevelopment of Governors Island, overseeing a range of mixed-use projects and focusing on public amenities, arts and culture, and climate and the environment. Some of the projects they are involved in include the Center for Climate Solutions at Governors Island and the Nolan Park cultural campus.

Alex Brady attended Princeton University from 2006 to 2010, where they received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Comparative Literature. From 2013 to 2015, they pursued a Master's degree in City/Urban, Community and Regional Planning at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
