Donna Rakes

Donna Rakes has extensive experience in the financial services industry. Donna began their career in 2001 as the Director of East Coast Operations at Thomas Compliance Associations, Inc. (TCA, Inc.), where they consulted, audited and managed the compliance programs and BSA/AML programs for over 30 financial institutions and implemented changes in Federal regulations. In 2012, they joined WashingtonFirst Bank as SVP Compliance. In 2018, they moved to Freedom Bank of Virginia as SVP Chief Risk Officer and then to MVB Bank as SVP FinTech Compliance. Currently, they are SVP Compliance at Trustar Bank. Throughout their career, they have managed the compliance programs and BSA/AML programs for numerous financial institutions, implementing changes in Federal regulations and achieving high level audit results in regulatory examinations.

Donna Rakes completed a Certificate in FinTech from Harvard University Office of the Vice Provost for Advances in Learning in 2019. In 2001, they attended the American Bankers Association Graduate School of Compliance for Regulatory Compliance. In 1997, they completed a Management Training Program by Central Fidelity National Bank (now Wells Fargo). In 1990-1991, they earned a Diploma in Legal Assistant/Paralegal from Randolph College. Donna also attended University of Lynchburg for Business Administration and Management, General and was a speaker at the Virginia Bankers Association Compliance School in 2002, 2003, and 2004.
