The Phillipian

First printed in 1857, The Phillipian is Phillips Academy’s weekly student newspaper. Entirely uncensored and student run, the paper is distributed every Friday from September to June. The Phillipian is 12–16 pages long and consists of five sections: News, Commentary, Sports, Arts and Features. Each issue reports on campus news, athletics and performances, publishes insightful opinion pieces and provides original humor. Students are the writers, editors and principal subjects of the paper. Headlines, lead photos and profiles preserve student accomplishments and create a window into the Andover community. The Phillipian serves as forum for discussion. As the written voice of the school, it creates a network on campus, in the far-flung Phillips Academy community and in surrounding communities through a common base of information.
