Cameron MacLeod has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. Beginning in 1985, they worked as a Youth Worker at the Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa until 1990. In 1995, they joined the Ministry of Community and Social Services, Ontario as a Project Manager, where they stayed until 1999. From 1999 to 2002, Cameron served as the Executive Director at Eastern Ontario Young Offenders Services. Cameron then worked as the Director of Programs at BGC Ottawa from 2002 to 2004, and subsequently as the Director of Fund Management at United Way East Ontario - Centraide de l'Est de l'Ontario from 2004 to 2006. From 2006 to 2013, Cameron held the role of Executive Director at Roberts/Smart Centre, an accredited mental health agency. In 2013, they became the Executive Director at Carlington Community Health Centre, where they have been serving until 2022. Currently, Cameron is the Vice President - Strategy and Alliances at TryCycle Data Systems Inc., an Ottawa startup focused on improving human health outcomes using predictive data systems.

Cameron MacLeod obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree with a concentration in Sociology and Law (Business Concentration) from Carleton University between 1980 and 1984. In 2000 to 2001, Cameron pursued a Certificate in Management Studies specializing in Not-for-Profit Leadership at Queen's University. In 2015, Cameron attended the University of Toronto - Rotman School of Management and earned a Certificate in Community Health Leadership. The end year for this certificate was not specified.
