Thomas F. Hofmann currently serves as the President of the Technical University of Munich, a position held since 2007. In addition, Thomas is a Professor and Head of Chair for Food Chemistry and Molecular Sensory Analysis, as well as the Senior Vice President for Research and Innovation at the university. Previous roles include Director at the Leibniz Institute for Food Systems Biology from 2017 to 2019, and Senior Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Chulalongkorn University from 2015 to 2018. Thomas held the position of Professor and Managing Director of the Institute of Food Chemistry at Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster from 2002 to 2006 and was the Deputy Director at the German Research Institute for Food Chemistry from 1999 to 2002. Educational credentials include a Habilitation degree from the Technical University of Munich, where Thomas also earned a dissertation degree, along with a Master's degree in Food Chemistry from Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg, culminating in a general university entrance qualification from Meranier-Gymnasium Lichtenfels.
