David Mason

David Mason has a diverse work experience in the field of intellectual property (IP) strategy and patent prosecution. David is currently working as the Director of IP Strategy & Security at Tula Technology Inc., where they manage the global IP program and protects the company's pending patents related to skip fire control systems and electric motors. Prior to this, David worked at Hardt Mason IP Development as the Principal & Managing Director, where they helped corporations develop and manage legal protection for their innovations and trade secrets. David also aligned IP policies with company culture to encourage innovation while reducing costs.

Before that, David served as the Sr. Director of Global Patent Portfolio & Competitors at Align Technology, where they led cross-functional patent review committees and managed global patent programs. David focused on protecting a 3D orthodontic scanning device and treatment planning software. At Hewlett Packard Enterprise, they worked as a Sr. Outsourcing Specialist, preparing patent invention and innovation workshops and managing the prosecution of 500 global patents. David was involved in reorganizing the worldwide patent prosecution management process.

David also has experience as a Sr. Patent Agent at Arnold White & Durkee, where they prepared and prosecuted patents in various technologies, conducted patentability and right-to-use studies, and assisted with trademark clearance work. Prior to that, they worked as a patent agent at Seed IP Law Group, managing a team and preparing patents for clients such as Microsoft and Boeing.

At the beginning of their career, David worked as a Patent Examiner at the USPTO, prosecuting patents related to semiconductor devices and processes. David also worked as an Electrical Engineer at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, where they developed data recording programs and conducted research on various subjects.

David Mason earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder, completing their studies from 1988 to 1993. Later, they pursued higher education at the University of the Pacific - McGeorge School of Law, where they obtained a Doctor of Law degree specializing in Intellectual Property Law, graduating from 2001 to 2005.

David also has additional certifications. In 1998, they obtained a US patent registration from the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). In 2018, they completed a leadership program at Leadership Morgan Hill.
