Gala True

Gala True serves as an Investigator at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs within the South Central Mental Illness Research, Education, and Clinical Center since 2007, holding the title of Affiliate Investigator at the VA National Center on Homelessness Among Veterans. Gala has been extensively involved in various committees and initiatives focused on mental health and suicide prevention, including positions on the VISN 16 Mental Health Summit Organizing Committee and the Louisiana Governor's Challenge to Prevent Suicide among Veterans. Additionally, Gala is an Adjunct Research Associate Professor at Tulane University School of Medicine and a non-tenured Professor at LSU Health Sciences Center, where teaching responsibilities include various research methods courses. Gala's academic background includes a Ph.D. in Folklore Studies from the University of Pennsylvania and extensive experience in health services research and community-engaged teaching and research.
