Beatrice Thuku

Beatrice Thuku has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Beatrice began their career as an Accounts Trainee at East African Packaging Industries, where they gained experience in bank reconciliations, VAT computation, and cash flow statements. Beatrice then worked as an Accounts Assistant at Africa Oil, where they were responsible for preparing books of accounts, filing withholding tax returns, and processing payments to suppliers. At Tullow Oil, Beatrice held various roles, including Accounts Payable, Operations Accountant, Senior Systems Accountant, and General Ledger Controller. In these roles, they were involved in tasks such as accurate processing of supplier invoices, managing joint venture books of accounts, and embedding financial controls and compliance. Their latest role at Tullow Oil was as the Financial Planning & Analysis Lead, where they managed a $200M budget and provided analysis and advice on budget variances. Overall, Beatrice Thuku has a strong background in financial planning and analysis, accounting, and project management.

Beatrice Thuku holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University, which they obtained in 2024. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree in Finance at the University of Nairobi. Beatrice also pursued studies in Accounting at Strathmore University. In terms of certifications, Beatrice obtained the Certified Public Accountant designation from Strathmore University in 2015 and the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from Computer Pride in the same year. Beatrice has also obtained various certifications from LinkedIn, including "Closing the Green Skills Gap to Power a Greener Economy and Drive Sustainability," "Introduction to ESG: Environmental, Social, and Governance," "What Is Generative AI?," and "Body Language for Leaders." Furthermore, Beatrice is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), having acquired the CPA(K) designation.
