Ian also worked as a Special Project Consultant for Google.org, focusing on advising on government data, and as a Presidential Innovation Fellow at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, where they helped improve Federal government services.
Before transitioning to the technology and data field, Kalin worked at PowerAdvocate, where they started as a Managing Director and played a key role in the company's growth in the energy and power procurement sector. Ian also served in the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant, Nuclear Engineer, and Counter-Terrorism Officer.
Kalin's work experience began in the non-profit sector, specifically as the Northeastern Governor for The Junior Statesmen Foundation.

Ian Kalin graduated from Georgetown University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service (BSFS) with a specialization in International Politics. Ian then pursued further education at Old Dominion University, where they obtained a Master's in Engineering Management (MEM) from 2005 to 2007.
