Mary Lindsey Bailey has a diverse work experience in the field of oboe playing. Mary Lindsey started their career as the Principal Oboe at the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra from September 2006 to May 2007. Mary Lindsey then served as an Instructor of Oboe at Colorado Mesa University from August 2008 to July 2015, during which they were also the Principal Oboe for the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra. Mary Lindsey further enhanced their teaching experience as an Assistant Professor of Oboe at Morehead State University from August 2015 to May 2016. Mary Lindsey Bailey continued their academic career at The University of Alabama as an Instructor of Oboe from August 2016 to May 2017, before being promoted to the position of Assistant Professor of Oboe, which they currently hold. In addition to their teaching roles, they have also been associated with the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra since September 2017 as the Principal Oboe.

Mary Lindsey Bailey pursued their education in the field of music. Mary Lindsey first attended the University of South Carolina from 1998 to 2002, earning a Bachelor's degree in Music Education. Mary Lindsey then went on to the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where they obtained a Master's degree in Oboe from 2003 to 2004, and later a Doctorate in Oboe from 2004 to 2010.
