Melanie Coates

Melanie Coates has extensive experience in education, serving as a High School English Teacher and English department chair at Baltimore County Public Schools since September 2001. In addition to teaching Grade 9 and 11 GT/AP English, Melanie oversees the Educator Effectiveness Academy and advises The Comet newspaper. Since 2013, Melanie has also contributed as a Curriculum Developer for Tuscany Group, LLC, and as an Educator Effectiveness Master Teacher for the Maryland State Department of Education. Previous roles include working as a Holistic Scorer for NCS Pearson and teaching middle school English at Catonsville and Middle River Middle Schools from 1991 to 1997. Melanie's educational background includes degrees from Goucher College, The Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Maryland, specializing in English Secondary Education.
