Dr. Matthias Trunk

Dr. Matthias Trunk serves as a Senior Consultant for Research Management at TÜV Rheinland Consulting GmbH since April 2022, focusing on research for public authorities regarding electric vehicle charging infrastructure and supporting the selection of publicly funded data science projects. Concurrently, Dr. Trunk is a Fachexperte Elektromobilität with Begleitforschung Elektro-Mobil. Prior experience includes a postdoctoral researcher position at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin from May 2019 to July 2021, specializing in microporous organic semiconductors for photocatalytic water-splitting, as well as a similar role at the University of California San Diego from March 2018 to November 2018, working on metal-organic framework/polymer hybrid materials. Dr. Trunk completed a Ph.D. at Technische Universität Berlin from 2013 to 2017, focusing on frustrated Lewis pairs in microporous polymer networks, and earned a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Biochemistry from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München between 2007 and 2012.
