Brian Skapura

Brian Skapura has over 20 years of work experience in various leadership roles in the technology industry. Brian is currently the Vice President of Agile Services at TWD & Associates, Inc., where they lead cutting-edge DevOps, DevOpsSec, Micro Services, and agile services. Brian is responsible for the greening and maintenance of multiple large government projects and creates and refines all agile services and practices at TWD.

Prior to TWD & Associates, Inc., Brian served as the Chief Information Technology Officer at Technology Junto, a startup that provides high-caliber diverse technology consulting to organizations in need. Brian was responsible for senior thought leadership, strategy, technology roadmaps, and technology implementation.

Before that, Brian worked as the Chief Information Officer at INCATech, where they studied and worked with numerous companies to distill lessons learned and identify hurdles that organizations face. Brian created plans that enabled success while mitigating risks and learned many tactics from other outstanding executives.

Brian has also held positions at The American Institute of Architects as the Managing Director of Web Management and Development, where they centralized technology and reduced vendor dependency and technology spend. Brian also worked at AOL as a Director/System Architect and Principal Software Engineer, overseeing system architecture and software engineering projects.

Earlier in their career, Brian was the Vice President of Technologies at Skyland Mortgage, where they ensured the technology infrastructure supported the company's mission and enabled efficient deal-making and staffing decisions.

Brian Skapura completed their education in a chronological manner. In 2001, they obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from George Mason University. Following that, they pursued an Advanced Study Program in Neural Networks at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2002 to 2003. In 2003, they earned a Master of Science degree in Information Technology from Virginia Tech. Additionally, in the same year, Skapura completed an Executive Education program in Strategic Persuasion Workshop: The Art and Science of Selling Ideas at The Wharton School. Lastly, they obtained an MBA in Organizational Leadership from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business, which they attended from 2006 to 2008.

Skapura has also obtained various certifications throughout their career. Brian holds a Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) certification from Scrum Alliance, obtained in June 2020, and a Certified SAFe 5 Agilist certification from Scaled Agile, Inc., obtained in August 2020. Additionally, they have a certification called MPM from AAPM ® American Academy of Project Management ®, but the specific month and year of attainment are unspecified. Similarly, they hold a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI), but the month and year of acquisition are also unspecified.
