Huafan Zhang is a Senior Characterization Engineer at Twelve since July 2023, specializing in advanced material characterization. Prior to this role, Huafan Zhang was a PhD student and researcher at KAUST from 2017 to July 2023, leading projects focused on nanostructured group-III-nitride materials for renewable energy applications. Responsibilities included material synthesis, characterization, and simulation work. Huafan Zhang also served as a student mentor, guiding interns and co-mentoring international graduate students, as well as working as a teaching assistant for a core course in semiconductor optoelectronic devices. Additional experience includes participation as an alumna in the 70th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting and a visiting scholar at Berkeley Lab, where contributions were made to projects on photoelectrocatalytic CO2 reduction. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Electrical Engineering/Electrophysics and an MS in Electrical Engineering from KAUST, alongside a BE in Electronic Science and Technology from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China.
