Alexander Yean

Barrister at Twenty Essex

Alexander Yean is a barrister at Twenty Essex since September 2022, following a role as a non-stipendiary lecturer in Roman law at the University of Oxford from October 2021 to April 2023. Alexander gained experience as a graduate research assistant at the NUS Centre for International Law in July 2021, working under Dr. Romesh Weeramantry in the Investor-State Dispute Settlement team. Prior to these roles, Alexander completed several vacation schemes at prominent law firms including Debevoise & Plimpton, Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, and Sidley Austin, as well as an off-cycle internship at Linklaters. Judicial experience was obtained as a judicial marshall at the Hong Kong Court of Appeal, where observation of various justices took place. Alexander holds a PGDip in Bar Vocational Studies from City, University of London, and a BA in Jurisprudence from the University of Oxford.
