Owen Smith

Owen Smith is a highly experienced Staff Research Scientist at Twist Bioscience since March 2022, previously serving as a Research Scientist in the same company. Prior experience includes a role at the National Cancer Institute from August 2012 to August 2015, where Owen received the Post Baccalaureate Cancer Research Training Award, focusing on DNA replication initiation determinants in mammalian cells. Throughout this position, Owen led projects comparing replication origins to epigenetic factors, utilized various bioinformatic tools, and conducted a series of laboratory assays to investigate chromatin association and cell cycle defects. Owen holds a PhD in Chemical and Systems Biology from Stanford University School of Medicine and a BA in Biology and Classical Languages from Macalester College.
