Karen S. Rheuban

Dr. Rheuban is Professor of Pediatrics (Cardiology), Senior Associate Dean for Continuing Medical Education and Director of the Center for Telehealth at the University of Virginia. With more than 20 years experience in telehealth, Dr. Rheuban is a past President of the American Telemedicine Association, she is the board chair of the Virginia Telehealth Network, and she chaired the (US) Institute of Medicine's Workshop on Telehealth in an Evolving Healthcare Environment. She has presented testimony to 6 committees before the US House of Representatives, and helped to advance state parity legislation in the Mid Atlantic states with state legislative testimony. She was appointed by the Governor of Virginia to serve on the Board of the Department of Medical Assistance Services (Medicaid) which she currently chairs. She was profiled in the National Library of Medicine exhibit "Changing the Face of Medicine: Celebrating America's Women Physicians" and is regularly listed in the Best Doctors in America database.
