Dr. Mitali Sen

Chief, Technical Assisstance And Capacity Building Branch at U.S. Census Bureau

Dr. Mitali Sen has a diverse work experience spanning several years. Dr. Mitali began their career as a Research Investigator at Panjab University in 1988. From 1989 to 1991, they worked as a Research Fellow at the National Labour Institute. In 1999, they became a Thoreau Teaching Fellow at the University of Maine. In 2000, they joined The World Bank as a Consultant until 2003. Dr. Mitali then worked as Adjunct Faculty at Santa Clara University from 2001 to 2003. From 2003 to 2007, they were a Research Faculty at the University of Maryland. From 2007 to 2009, they worked as a Social Statistician at the U.S. Census Bureau -- Census Coverage Management. Currently, they hold the position of Chief of the Technical Assistance and Capacity Building Branch at the U.S. Census Bureau, where they provide technical assistance to developing countries and conducts statistical capacity building programs.

Dr. Mitali Sen holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Maryland, which they completed from 1993 to 2000. Dr. Mitali also obtained a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Sociology from the Delhi School of Economics from 1985 to 1987, and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Sociology from Jesus and Mary College from 1982 to 1985. Additionally, they have a Masters Certificate in Project Management from the Project Management Institute, obtained in 2010.
