Ken O'Brien is an accomplished professional in data engineering and technology leadership with extensive experience in government roles. Currently serving as Associate Director of Data Engineering and Architecture at the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission since June 2024, Ken previously held the position of Deputy Associate Director and CTO at the Dept of the Treasury's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network from March 2011 to June 2024. Ken's prior experience includes serving as CIO at the USDA's Risk Management Agency from 2009 to March 2011 and Deputy CIO at the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network from 2005 to 2009. Educationally, Ken holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer and Electrical Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University, along with multiple advanced degrees from George Mason University and The George Washington University School of Business, including a Master’s Degree in Computer Science, an MBA, and a Master’s Degree in Business Analytics.
