Roland Risser

Deputy Assistant Secretary, Renewable Power at U.S. Department of Energy

Roland Risser is a prominent leader in the renewable energy sector, currently serving as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Renewable Power at the US Department of Energy since January 2010. Risser oversees the Solar, Water, Wind, and Geothermal Power Offices. In a previous role as Director of the Building Technologies Office, Risser guided programs aimed at enhancing energy efficiency in residential and commercial buildings. Prior experience at PG&E involved directing Customer Energy Efficiency initiatives, including policy development and program management that contributed to one of the largest energy efficiency programs globally. Risser holds a Master of Science in Biological Sciences from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo, a Bachelor of Science in Biological Science from UC Irvine, and completed an Executive Program in Business Administration at the University of California, Berkeley.
