Michael Sawyer

Michael Sawyer is a seasoned legal professional currently serving as a Trial Attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice since April 2019. Previously, Michael was an Associate at Covington & Burling from October 2011 to March 2019, where significant accomplishments included leading the representation of a global cosmetics manufacturer in intricate trade secret and patent litigation, as well as defending an international steel manufacturer against trade secret claims linked to state-sponsored cyber espionage. Earlier in Michael's career, a role as a Law Clerk at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit from September 2010 to September 2011 involved drafting bench memoranda and legal opinions across various areas of law. Michael holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Berkeley - School of Law and a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of Scranton.
