Kris Bechtel

Kris Bechtel is a seasoned tax professional with extensive experience in the field. Currently serving as a Senior Internal Revenue Agent at the U.S. Department of the Treasury since September 2024, Kris previously held the position of VP, Tax Director at First Midwest Bancorp, Inc. from November 2007 to September 2024. Prior experience includes roles as a Tax Manager at Ernst & Young from June 1998 to October 2007, where responsibilities included overseeing federal and state income tax returns for large manufacturing clients and managing staff. Kris began a career in taxation at Peoples Energy, working as a Tax Accountant and later in various accounting roles from August 1992 to June 1998. Academic credentials include a Master of Science in Taxation from DePaul Driehaus College of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Gies College of Business at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
