Gilbert G. Whitmer, MD has extensive experience in the medical field, with a focus on orthopedic surgery and occupational medicine. Gilbert G. served as a Medical Director and Occupational Medicine Physician at U. S. HealthWorks from 2007 to present, where they evaluated and treated patients with occupational injuries and conditions, as well as acute medical conditions in an urgent care environment. Gilbert G. also performed various examinations and evaluated diagnostic studies.

Prior to that, Dr. Whitmer worked at Eagle Orthopaedics as an Orthopedic Surgeon, Physician, Legal/Medical Consultant, and Administrator starting in 2006. Gilbert G. also served as a Medical Consultant at NC Disability Determination Services from 2006 to 2007, where they reviewed medical records of claimants applying for disability benefits.

Gilbert G. Whitmer, MD has an extensive education history spanning multiple fields of study. Gilbert G. began their educational journey at Bethel Park High School, where they completed their college preparatory studies from 1975 to 1979. Following their high school education, they attended The Johns Hopkins University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Natural Sciences from 1979 to 1983.

Driven by their passion for medicine, Dr. Whitmer pursued their medical education at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine from 1983 to 1987. Here, they obtained their Medical Doctor (MD) degree, focusing on the field of Medicine. Building upon their foundation, they then enrolled at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine for an Orthopedic Surgery Residency, which they completed from 1987 to 1992. This residency provided him with specialized training in orthopedic surgery.

Dr. Whitmer continued to specialize in their chosen field by undertaking a Hand Surgery Fellowship at the University of Tennessee-Health Science Center College of Medicine. This fellowship, which took place from 1992 to 1993, allowed him to refine their skills and knowledge in hand surgery.

In addition to their medical degrees and specializations, Dr. Whitmer has also obtained a certification in the Department of Transportation (DOT) as a commercial driver examiner. Gilbert G. obtained this certification from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety institution in November 2013.
